Camping Choisy has a soul, a little something that sets it apart from several other campsites that I have had the opportunity to visit. I sincerely believe that success in business is due to the passion of leaders that transpires through the organization to the customers. The team of volunteers, staff and family behind this establishment have taken up this challenge. This establishment is now carving out a place in my favorite campsite.
I recently wrote an article on urban campgrounds. There are many of them around major American cities, but Montreal is no exception. In the run-up to the opening of the festivals, the nternational Loto-Québec Fireworks, La Ronde opening and all that the metropolis offers in the summer season, I thought it was appropriate to talk about Alouette campground located in St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil in Montérégie. A hotel room in downtown Montreal can be quite expensive for a family so why not camp close to the city. Approximately 20 minutes separate downtown from the Alouette campground. Public transport options are also available close by which allows you easily spend the day on the island. Montreal's proximity is not is not the only attractive aspect to this campground. Heated swimming pool, practice golf course, playground and ready-to-camp facilities are available. What a great combo when you can travel and camp! Camping Alouette is also very close to Mont-Saint-Bruno National Park as well as Mont-Saint-Hilaire so you will definetly have enough to keep you busy during your stay. We were invited by Parkbridge Campgrounds to their Alouette establishement last weekend and I must say that, when my GPS indicated 35 minutes to drive between the north and south shores, I was skeptical about the location of the place. Are we going to feel like we're camping despite the proximity of the urban environment? Surprisingly yes! The Alouette campground offers several types of sites even some in a wooded areas. Whether you're looking for the comfort of modern amenities or rustic camping, it's all there! If you are planning a getaway to the teeming city of Montreal this summer I recommend staying at the Alouette campsite and make it a camping and city combo! I always wondered what was hidden behind this huge poster on the outskirts of road 117 which announces the entrance of Camping du Domaine Lausanne. Its vintage look testifies to the many years of existence of the establishment. Camping du Domaine Lausanne existed for over 50 years, but is in full rebirth since 2018, when a young dynamic family decided to leave everything to become owners of a campground. If you believe you know this campground because you visited it several years ago, think again. The Camping du Domaine Lausanne has changed course! The owners have a vision. Camping du Domaine Lausane is all about what they call a boreal experience. A campground on the outskirts of a lake where you can enjoy the 102 hectares of nature. A forest they want at all costs to protect but also exploit to the delight of outdoor enthusiasts. It's much more than a campground; there's hiking, rental of fat bikes and water embarcation as well as fishing. The P'tit train du Nord cycle path is accessible directly from the campground and if it was not enough to keep you busy, they even opened Canada's first surf pool. I have never personally seen a campsite offering such a wide range of accommodation and sites. We're talking here about 9 different types of ready-to-camp accomodations for a total of 75 units. There's something for everyone. Personally, I fell for the very photogenic small floating cabins. The caravans, tents, cozy bubbles, boreal tents, cabins, tepees and yurts are all very charming. Something to please everyone. If you ever decide to rent a ready-to-camp trailer, there are some brand new RV's that can be placed on the site your choice. Campers are not left out, there is sites for all tastes that can accommodate equipment up to 40 feet, 0 to 3 services, wooded, sunny or by the lake. You decide! We loved our wooded lot by the lake. What an asset for the Camping du Domaine Lausanne to offer so many intimate sites with direct access to water. I believe that the new concept of Camping du Domaine Lausanne is a winning formula. The sites are comparable to what you could find in a provincial park in Quebec. However the service offering of Camping du Domaine Lausanne is superior with an interesting activity program typical of a private campground establishment. In addition, you will find a real place for doggie, such as a dog park and a designated place for swimming. Sites adapted for all types of equipment with different levels of services. Ready-to-camp in sufficient amount and very cute and original to say the least! New management is definitely on the right track and it will be interesting to see the evolution of this little gem of camping in the heart of the Laurentians.Lots of success to the new Domaine Lausanne camping and the new owners! I love variety! Spending holidays camping on the East Coast is literally life. I also like visiting big cities. Not easy to stop in New York after a nice week of camping if you are towing a 30 feet trailer! Over the years I took the challenge for several big cities. Here's a list of campgrounds located so close to urban areas that it will allow you to visit them for a few days without even taking your car or RV.
The Disney Fort Wilderness campground is certainly not a traditional hotel that most visitors choose for their visit to the world of Mickey. But Disney Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the oldest resorts in Walt Disney.
The Thousand Islands region of Ontario has the largest public beach on the shores of the St. Lawrence River (Mille Roches), bike paths, preserved nature trails, boat ramps, picnic areas, scuba diving and remarkable fishing. Enought to keep you busy for a few days.
I've been visiting the Brownsburg Chatham Municipal Campground for a few years. It's a campsite that we love to visit outside the high season. In early June or at the end of September, most campsites close their facilities so we adapt our program. Biking, fishing and a little sightseeing is what we go for.
It sometimes goes through my mind to establish a small second home on a campround and stop moving around with the camper. I'm not quite ready. There's too many places to discover. But, I must say, that the facilities of Camping Vacances St-Tropez are attractive for stationary campers.
I love camping in autumn. It's during this period that I make the most outings. Summer is solicited; BBQ with friends, weddings, swimming at home etc.! In autumn, with back to school, camping sites are transformed into a haven of tranquility and I want to enjoy it. My camping season traditionally ends on Thanksgiving weekend when the fall colors are in full swing.
